remembering.......

Writing out my Christmas cards made me a little sad knowing that some of my friends and loved ones are no longer about this year and I know that many friends in blog land have lost loved ones so I thought I would share this verse that a friend sent me when my Mum passed on. I hope it might give someone a bit of comfort.

My First Christmas In Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
with tiny lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular! Please wipe away that tear, for I
am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
but the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas
choir up here. I have no words to tell you the joy their voices
bring, for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me. I see the pain inside your
heart, even though I am so far away, we really aren't apart.
So, be happy for me, loved ones. You know I hold you dear.
Be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home
above. I send you each a memory of my undying love. After
all, "LOVE" is the gift more precious than gold. It was
always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do, for
I can't count the blessings or the love He has for you.
So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear.
Remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this
year.

  2. This past August, We lost our 95 year old Father. Even though I wasn't a 'son', I tried to do my best for him at the care facility near my home.
I am 68, so I have had him around and about for a long time.
I didn't think it was going to be hard at all this Holiday season, since we were not close and he considered me an annoying girl child, but for me, I am surprised to feel bereft in the loss. We all knew this last year was going to be hard on him, and he left this earth with grace and in a sleepy state.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the chance to ruminate on the words of the poem. Our Mother passed away in 2001, and I still want to call her and ask her how she did this or what I did when a child, or how to make this special recipe. Time hasn't dimmed the longing, even though she preferred the three siblings that never got away very far from home.
Bless you, you have given words of comfort to those of us that have lost someone this year.
